DESCRIPTION
Join us on a unique cultural and culinary experience deep in the lush province of Bocas del Toro, where one of the local Ngäbe indigenous communities opens its doors to share the sacred tradition of cacao.
Guided by the community’s own cacao farmers, you’ll gain first-hand insight into the ancestral process of transforming organic, shade-grown cacao into rich, delicious chocolate. From the planting of the revered cacao tree to the harvesting, fermenting, drying, roasting, and finally, the artisanal production of chocolate—you’ll witness every step of a tradition that has been passed down for generations.
Beyond learning, you’ll also immerse yourself in the daily life of the Ngäbe people, experiencing their deep respect for nature and the role of cacao in their culture.
Your visit includes a guided hike through the cacao groves, where the surrounding rainforest reveals its secrets—keep an eye out for colorful dart frogs, lazy sloths, toucans, and other vibrant wildlife that call this biodiverse region home.
At the end of the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase handcrafted chocolate products, with proceeds directly supporting education and healthcare initiatives within the community.
