DESCRIPTION
Located 60 km west of Panamá City, on Chame Bay, The Altos de Campana National Park was the first national park established in Panamá. With an area of 4,925 hectares and a highest point of 850 meters above the sea level, this area is an extension of the volcano located in El Valle de Antón, which is reflected in its abrupt topography with incredible cliffs, lava fields and volcanic rocks.
During the hike, you will be able to enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna. Home of an estimate of 1216 species of higher plants, 200 species of trees and 350 species of bushes, there is no shortage of mosses, orchids, and bromeliads among others which can be appreciated along the hike.
You will also be able to encounter some of the different species that reside in the park, such as mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
Once at the top or “La Cruz”, prepare to witness the magnificent views of the Panama Canal Basin and amazing panoramics of the Bay of Chame with its impressive mangroves.
